The main objective of writing this book has been to give a clear understanding of the concepts, methods, and research studies of synthesis and characterization, and use of finite element simulations. The book is meant to be useful to the degree and research level students and for practicing engineers and active scientists with the ultimate goal of promoting the growing interest in this field. Chapter-1 introduces the concepts and background of nanomaterials and nanotechnology. Chapter-2 describes the researchers work in the nanotechnology developments, Chapter-3 gives methodology: synthesis, characterization techniques and finite element simulations and chapter-4 includes the synthesis and characterizations carbon nanotubes and Chapter-5 describes the finite element analyses of single walled carbon nanotubes. Chapter-6 details the finite element analyses of multi walled carbon nanotubes. Finally chapter-7 narrates the future scope of study for the nanotechnology.
