Beschreibung:
Infant mortality rate in Ghana has reduced over the years from 80/1000. Since 2003, there has not been any recorded death from measles and since November 2008 there has not been any report of wild polio virus. This is an indication that the country Ghana is making great efforts to improve the health status of its people, especially children. Ghana was Among the First GAVI eligible country to introduce two new vaccines (pneumococcal and rota virus vaccines) concurrently in 2012 and won 2 out of 8 awards at the GAVI Partners meeting. However, wide variations continue to exist in health status between the poor and rich Ghanaians. There are twice as many under-fives dying per 1,000 live births in the poorest communities compared to the richest according to MICS 2011. It was also noted that under-five mortality, inequality gap between the richest and poorest has been widening with a projection that those within the richest quintile are more likely to reach the MDG targets, Now SDGs. There was also geographical disparity with under five mortality in urban being 72/1000 live births and that of the rural being 94/1000 live births.
